Jumai is the a clinical therapist, licensed to practice in Alberta, BC and Ontario. She is currently completing a doctoral studies in counselling psychology. She works with clients in areas around complex trauma, personality disorder, mood disorder, relationship problems, esteem issues, as well as working with couples and families. In session, Jumai uses strength-based and self-compassionate approaches to therapeutic interventions. She is passionate about serving a wide variety of population including children, adults, couples, families, seniors, and veterans. She assists you in creating a specialized treatment plan after an initial assessment and helps you move forward with approaches that fit your needs.

Jumai’s practice is guided by eye movement desensitization therapy (EMDR) emotional-focused therapy (EFT), dialectal behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Attachment-based therapy, and narrative therapy (NT) using the Tree of Life” Methodology, which uses a narrative lens for an Afrocentric and aboriginal narrative practice.

Further, Jumai works with Alberta Justice to provide family support, guidance and assessments for parent planning. Her collaborative approach ensures each individual and family is connected to essential resources to assist them reach their goals. She works with clients in divorce and separation, working with entire families, children/youth, and individuals navigating this challenging life experience.

Additionally, she works with an Interdisciplinary Team in the Collaborative Family Law Process, serving as a Family Specialist or Divorce Coach. She has supported families with various goals including initial discussions with children to establishing a healthy co-parenting relationship and communication, and developing a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate parenting plan. Jumai believes in early intervention to prevent escalating conflicts, but when disputes are entrenched, she employs a direct, future-focused, and solution-oriented approach.
